As a continued leader in the advancement of teaching and learning, Intel hosted the 8th Annual Intel Visionary Conference in Washington, DC.   The three day conference, Intel Visionary Conference 2009, included sessions looking inside the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and its impact on education, Personalized Learning for Every Student, Online Learning, several case studies and how Intel is working to help these initiatives to succeed.

On Thursday, April 23, Technical Systems Integrators, LLC (TSI) CEO and principal consultant, Dr. John David Pickering led the session Mobility: The REAL Paradigm Shift: Everyone is Going Mobile.   Joining Dr. Pickering for this session were Lloyd Brown, Director of Technology, Henrico County Public Schools, Virginia; Dr. Cathleen Norris, Regents Professor, College of Information, University of North Texas; Debbie Rice, Director of Technology, Auburn City Schools, Alabama; and Dr. Elliot Soloway, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, College of Engineering, University of Michigan.

This is Dr. Pickering’s eighth year participating in this conference.  He firmly believes in the importance of the leaders in education and the industries that support and facilitate improvements in education share in open discussion.   These visions and their success hinge on cooperation, understanding and the willingness to step outside the box.

During this conference, the attendees received a presentation from Marshall (Mike) S. Smith, Senior Counselor to the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education on the Stimulus Package and how will be used in education.  In his presentation he covered the details of how the stimulus money would be distributed throughout the educational sector.
